Gloriously Possessed
To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
- Colossians 1:27 (NKJV)
When our children were younger, my husband and I would remind each other to be mindful of the commercials that might flash across the TV screen as the months of September and October approached. In less than 30 seconds, our children could go from the smiles and excitement of a Sunday afternoon football game, to the terrified tears of a 7 year old, trying to understand why the bloody faced girl had her head on backwards, was crawling on all fours, and climbing through a TV screen! In my efforts to answer their questions, as with many things, I turned to Google AI mode and asked it to “Explain the idea of being possessed so that a 7 year old can understand.” In short, Google AI suggested to “imagine your body is a remote- control car, and your brain is the remote.” “When someone is "possessed," it's like a spooky driver has taken over the remote control of your car.” I can appreciate the simplicity of the response to describe demonic possession, however, a focus on demonic possession only, completely neglects the most important Spiritual possession available for mankind. Colossians 1:27 states “To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: [a]which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
When we are born again, as believers, we receive the indwelling gift of the Holy Spirit, aka, the Spirit of Christ, and become Christ carriers. If we did not possess this glorious Spirit at the time of our natural birth, but God wills for us to possess it at the time of our Spiritual birth, what then should we call this newly indwelling experience other than Spiritual Possession!?! And in His great love for us, scripture reveals this form of possession as something that God willed to make known, not just to the descendants of Abaraham, Issac, and Jacob, but also to the Gentiles! It is His will for this secret to be shared with us all!
The secret is, . . . that Christ can be in you too!
And if Christ is in you, then you too, can share in the glory of God! It’s the only way to experience the richness of God’s glory, the vastness of His love, the beauty of His sovereignty, and the peace of life everlasting in Christ! Get with the program Google AI! To be possessed by the Holy Spirit is not like a spooky driver, but rather by One to whom, as children of God, we willingly give up the remote control of our car, and let Him take the wheel! He is our sovereign Lord, knowing the end from the beginning, and has lovingly laid out our paths to walk with Him, for His Glory!
Have you been Gloriously Possessed? Then give up your “remote control”!
